Malcolm nous parlera de la Cinquième République, régime politique français qui aura bientôt 70 ans.
La Cinquième République traverse actuellement une grande crise politique, faute d'une majorité parlementaire capable de
soutenir un gouvernement acceptable au président Macron. Cette présentation, bien illustrée, expliquera la situation
actuelle, dans le contexte plus large du régime créé en 1958 par le général de Gaulle, afin de sortir d’une crise plus grande
qui a renversé son prédécesseur.

Malcolm will talk about the Fifth Republic, a French political regime that will soon be 70 years old.
“The Fifth Republic is currently going through a major political crisis, due to the lack of a parliamentary majority capable of supporting a government acceptable to President Macron. This presentation, well illustrated, will explain the current situation, in the broader context of the regime created in 1958 by General de Gaulle, in order to emerge from a greater crisis that overthrew his predecessor.”

Nous vous présenterons “J`accuse” , film réalisé par Roman Polanski. Il s'agit d`une adaptation du
roman « An Officer and a Spy » de Robert Harris, portant sur l'Affaire Dreyfus. « Dans cet immense
scandale, qui déchira la France de la III e République à la fin du XIX e siècle, se mêlent erreur
judiciaire, déni de justice et antisémitisme. ». (Film proposé par Kath)
Discussion sur Zoom, pour ceux qui le souhaitent, pendant la semaine suivant la présentation du film.

Lundi 2 Juin: Atelier “expressions françaises” – French Expressions Workshop

activités conçues et animées par Muriel. 1) « Choisissez (à l`avance) deux expressions françaises que vous aimez. Expliquez pourquoi elles vous plaisent, leur sens et
si possible expliquez leur origine historique. Vous pouvez aussi décrire leur équivalent en anglais, s'il en existe un. »
2)QCM (questions à choix multiples) : Muriel vous présentera une dizaine d`expressions anglaises en vous proposant 3
possibles équivalents en français (ou l`inverse). Les participants devront savoir ou deviner quelle est la vraie traduction.

1) “Choose (in advance) two French expressions that you like. Explain why you like them, their meaning and
if possible explain their historical origin. You can also describe their equivalent in English, if there is one.”
2) MCQ (multiple choice questions): Muriel will present you with about ten English expressions by offering you 3
possible equivalents in French (or the other way around). Participants will have to know or guess which is the real translation.
Lundi 7 Juillet: Jeux linguistiques

Jeremy vous proposera des Wordle (jeux de lettres aussi simples qu`addictifs) et des spelling bee (compétition dans laquelle
les participants doivent épeler des mots choisis à l’avance), ainsi que des jeux d`association de mots, conçus pour élargir
votre vocabulaire, et des jeux de rôle. Venez nombreux relever le défi dans une ambiance motivante !

Jeremy will offer you Wordle (letter games as simple as they are addictive) and spelling bee (competition in which
participants must spell words chosen in advance), as well as word association games, designed to expand your vocabulary, and role-playing games. Come and take up the challenge in a motivating atmosphere!
