Clonter Opera AWARD FOR FRENCH SONG – ROSA SPARKS

Rosa Sparks, winner of the Betty Bannerman Award for French Song 2024, established for students at the Royal Northern College of Music, will give a recital in the neighbouring Clonterbrook Music Room. Rosa will be accompanied by the ‘World Class’ pianist, Robin Humphreys.
Please note that the Music Room at Clonterbrook is located just after or before the bend approaching Clonter Opera Theatre, on the opposite side of the road.

L’une des caractéristiques principales de la célébration des trois rois en France est la gellette du roi. Mais saviez-vous qu’à l’intérieur se cache une fève ?
La personne qui trouve la fève dans la gellette devient roi pour la journée.
Une fève est un petit bibelot et le mot français fève signifie fava bean en anglais, ce qui était à l’origine caché dans le gâteau. Les fèves modernes peuvent être fabriquées à partir d’autres matériaux, comme la porcelaine ou le plastique, et peuvent prendre des formes variées. Les thèmes des fèves sont très divers et peuvent inclure des symboles religieux, des outils liés à la pâtisserie ou même des représentations de personnages célèbres.
